Audubon International Certified Gold Signature SanctuaryFrom initial land planning to build-out, Old Palm was developed in accordance with Audubon International’s Principles of Sustainability, which include: Wildlife Habitat Conservation, Commitment to Water Quality and Water Conservation, Conserving and Maximizing Native Plants, Commitment to Green Building and Dedication to Sustainable Education and Outreach. More than 50 acres of the approximately 650-acre community have been set aside as preserve, including a vegetative preserve on the north end of the community with dedicated tortoise fencing to provide a contiguous wildlife corridor. Approximately 75% of the landscaped common areas are comprised of native plantings, which are more drought tolerant and require less water. Specially engineered phytozones in the community lakes, along with littoral plantings, allow for natural filtration areas. These green practices extend to the championship Raymond Floyd-designed golf course. Seashore paspalum turf grass, a state-of-the-art, revolutionary hybrid grass, was installed to provide a vibrant green hue that is indicative of a well cared for course. The choice of this turf grass was pioneering and a perfect fit for the course’s innovative design. The paspalum grass, which is designed to fare better in heat, cold and shade as well as varied soil conditions, can be watered with fresh, brackish or salt water. |
Old Palm Golf ClubSet among 650 acres and offering fewer than 300 estate homes, Old Palm Golf Club is an intimate golf community centered around the Raymond Floyd designed course. The 43,000-square-foot award-winning Club offers every conceivable amenity including concierge service, guest accommodations, world-class dining, spa and fitness center. Old Palm is a private golf club where fairways are ribboned with water and hammocks of oaks and pine. The turf is cutting-edge Paspalum, an environmentally friendly grass that helps the ball roll smoother on the greens and fairways. A no tee time policy assures members that they'll always have a game when they're ready to play. A legendary Scottish "bye hole" or 19th hole allows golfers to settle friendly wagers. Old Palm has a one-of-a-kind Golf Studio, a 33-acre practice facility that opened in February 2004. The Golf Studio, which features its own practice range, putting green and target green with bunkers, also sports the latest in digital swing analysis technology. Three dedicated practice holes are modeled after actual holes on the course, a par 3, par 4 and par 5. |
